• Provide assistance with supervision of activities of daily living (ADL), including ambulating, bathing, dressing, eating, grooming, toileting, transferring, and medications.

"Assistance" means direct physical assistance with ADLs rather than actually performing the task for the resident; however, facility staff may feed residents who are unable to feed themselves.

Supervision of ADLs includes reminding residents to engage in specific activities and, when necessary, observing or providing verbal queuing to assist residents while they perform them.

• Supervise and assist with medication as ordered by a physician.
• Employ an RN or LPN to administer medication if noted by physician.
• Effective October 1, 1999 may delegate responsibility for taking resident vital signs to a certified nursing assistant under the direction of a licensed nurse or physician.
• Provide special diet and services for diabetics and insulin dependent residents.
